Today Sony is giving away the first units of its new and portable console: PSP (Play Station Portable) on the US. The Japan opening not so long ago has been very well-taken by games fans - we will have to wait a bit to see how it goes here.
Among other specs, the Sony PSP weights 250 g and has a 480x272 film format screen that will mostly challenge the Nintendo GB series. It uses a Sony Disk system called UMD (Universal Media Disk), and it can play movies, run games, or connect to the internet.
PSP sounds wonderful in any mentioned way, but we have to remember that the portable market is one of the hardests and it won't let Sony have a trial: you do well or you die. From the Atari Lynx to the Sega Game Gear, there are lots of examples that once turned into portable market and suddenly -we don't really know why- died. Hope it doesn't happen to the PSP
