Cantar del mio Cid

First and main manifestation of the songs of gesta and first manuscript purely written in Castilian (Spanish, to be clear).

It narrates the deeds made by this character mix of reality and legend, highlighting values such as honor or loyalty, volatile virtues today because tolerance makes them obsolete by partially colliding with it (ie, you have to have less honor to be more tolerant, and loyalty is based on honor so it is also harmed). It remains to be seen whether these two attributes are temporarily or definitely defunct in the Western history of our small world.

In any case, it is proven that they are a fundamental ingredient in the plots of novels and films alike, since we feel strong empathy with the characters who keep these precepts, reserved only for the most intrepid in spirit.

The original manuscript, today guarded by the National Library of Spain, has been subject to certain fetishism as is understandable, and its content has been updated to current Spanish on several occasions in addition to having been taken to the cinema masterfully by producer Samuel Bronston, together with Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren.
