Video games lose some of their glamour and become block-exploding pastimes

September, 15; 2024. By
For some time now, we have noticed in this publication that there is a growing sector of video games that consist of being a kind of mobile "pastime" where on a screen you have to explode blocks or gather gems or things like that, reducing the greatness -in our opinion- of this art.

And it is that, when browsing the Internet, we do not stop seeing advertisements for video games inviting us to solve the simplest puzzles in environments similar to Tetris but without that halo of glamour that said title has (let us remember that it was the first block game and perhaps the most well-defined and well-finished of them; one derived from the other or the other derived from the one, as usually happens).

Other similar games can be those of the type to gather gems and have them explode, or an evolution of Tetris itself in which you have to gather blocks and have them explode and disappear as well. They are still a moving pastime, like a crossword puzzle but on a screen.

This, in the long term, reduces the "greatness" of this art, the art of video games, which can serve us both to "live" in certain invented worlds and enjoy the imagination as well as to explode little blocks. Anyway.
