At a time when sequels, prequels, reboots, spin-offs, and so on are rampant in Hollywood releases, with little or no originality per se (i.e., with few completely new releases), this film dedicated to the video game Minecraft sneaks in, which, as we said, has performed very well at the box office since its worldwide theatrical release (early April of this year). Added to this is the fact that movies about video games tend to have mixed success —in other words, not all of them work—, overall, it's a good option for getting into theaters this season.
The film combines familiar language for youth with unparalleled adventures in the world of Overworld, the video game world, making it especially suitable for teenagers.
The film had a budget of approximately $150 million according to IMDb and has already grossed four times that amount, so in that regard, it's doing very well. It was produced by Warner Bros.
So, all that's left is to delve into that world where cubes are the essence of it, and fun is more than guaranteed.
