A taste of Hispanic heritage on the list of the world's best restaurants
June, 20; 2025. By Arscodex
Recently (yesterday), one of the most prestigious lists of the world's best restaurants was published: "The World's 50 Best Restaurants," curated by British publisher William Reed, and guess what? Hispanic America as a whole is dominating the top spots.
Thus, the supreme award of first place goes to the Peruvian restaurant Maido, serving Nikkei cuisine, located in Lima (the capital of Peru). Apparently, the execution of the dishes, as well as the dishes themselves, at this restaurant are already among the "Olympus" of world gastronomy.
Second place goes to the Etxebarri steakhouse in the Basque Country, Spain; where you can enjoy, almost without any additions, what is probably the best beef in the world.
Continuing down the list, we find, in third place, another Latin American icon: Quintonil, in Mexico City (Mexico). Fourth place goes to an old acquaintance, DiverXO, the offering by Daviz Muñoz in Madrid.
We continue on the list, and we'll see that there are restaurants from all over the world; but it's clear at a glance that the top spots are dominated by Hispanic America, meaning Spain and Latin America are currently very strong in creativity.
And this is something worthy of praise and, of course, very interesting since, as has already been said in this article, we're all interested in South America, but also Central America and North America (in this case, leaning toward the Hispanic part), being strong gastronomically; not only because of their innate wealth in many areas of creativity, but because the fact that creative entrepreneurial offerings thrive in this part of the world will drive away other things that aren't as interesting: illegal drug trafficking and poverty in general, as well as street violence, etc. Therefore, it is of paramount importance for everyone, as we have already said and repeat, that entrepreneurship flourishes in South America and that its products are valued worldwide.
And now let's all prepare our wallets to travel to these locations around the world and spend our savings on tasting some of the succulent dishes offered by these prestigious restaurants.
