The table olive, the epicenter of the Mediterranean diet
December, 12; 2025. By Arscodex
At this point, we want to highlight the beneficial properties of a staple of the Mediterranean diet: the simple and sometimes overlooked table olive.
If we look around us, we can see that this humble and basic food, the table olive, is common in the Mediterranean diet: in Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey, as well as other countries both in the northern and southern Mediterranean, this food is mainstream.
We should also mention that in Spain and Italy, in particular, life expectancy exceeds 80 years, as it does in Greece; these three countries (but especially Spain and Italy) are world leaders in longevity. There are other countries with similar or slightly superior longevity levels (I'm thinking, for example, of Japan or Switzerland), but what is stated in this text is absolutely true.
Therefore, the table olive becomes the "epicenter of the Mediterranean diet" in its own right. Moreover, the best ones are often seasoned, crushed, cracked, or otherwise "mistreated" (with care) to make them so delicious and to constitute that staple food upon which the Mediterranean diet is built, as we have already mentioned several times here.
This dish, along with other agricultural products, as well as good meat and fish (that is, what is known as an omnivorous diet), forms the solid foundation upon which all these ideas are built.
So, bravo to the table olive!
