On June 19, 2026, just three days ago, American television producer/director James Burrows passed away peacefully. He helped shape iconic television series such as Friends.

This director helmed 15 episodes of the early seasons of the sitcom Friends, thus contributing to establishing the show's style and scope. He also previously co-created the equally successful global series Cheers. Prior to that, he was involved in the development of another highly acclaimed American series: Taxi. He also co-created the Cheers spin-off Frasier and recently participated in the development of one of the latest modern television hits: The Big Bang Theory. This is just a glimpse into his extensive body of work, which we cannot discuss here due to space limitations.

Winner of 11 Emmy Awards, among other accolades, we are losing one of the personalities who has worked the most for television globally, especially for the "sitcom" or situation comedy format.
