Pérez Prado
First, maximum and almost unique exponent of the musical genre known as Mambo, a sort of evolved Cuban danzón that would later mutate to cha-cha-chá or salsa of the 70s. In 1949 Pérez Prado, together with his orchestra, released a single double including the songs "Que rico el mambo" and "Mambo n. 5", unleashing what became known as the "mambomanía", a cultural-musical-social movement that spread throughout much of North America as well as Central America, South America and other places of our small world.
In 1958 he launched his other great success "Patricia", which together with the previous successes, grouped by themes with number (such as the aforementioned "Mambo n. 5") make up the wide career of commercial successes of this musician. Starting in the 60s, as it often happens, new musical airs made mambo old and therefore its success relaxed slightly.
He is currently known not only for his music, perhaps the first truly commercial explosion of Latin sounds (and from that moment it seems as if, with ups and downs, Latin syncopated rhythms had almost exclusively the use and enjoyment of the word "fiesta", or if not ask Daddy Yankee and his reggaeton), but also for that wonderful expression of "believe that you are the king of mambo", commonly used to mention someone who thinks is very important, in the Spanish language.
