Treasure Island

Treasure Island
Adventure novel created by the British writer Robert Louis Stevenson. It is the first and most important work where pirate imagery in general is shown, so influential in the world of entertainment in today's society, and where the foundations are laid for a series of important objects and clichés that resonate in all subsequent pirate works.

To give some examples, the maps marked with an X, the wooden legs, the abuse of rum (or other alcoholic beverages), and the parrots on the shoulders of the pirates are accurately described in this mythical and timeless adventure novel.

Later works such as Monkey Island or Pirates of the Caribbean (the saga of Disney films starring Johnny Depp) drink from it, as has been commented.
