Turner

Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) was an English painter, known for his watercolors and paintings depicting primarily the sea in a wild state.

Ahead of his time but also admired in life, his work is modern today despite the fact that it was painted in the Romantic period. It shares certain nuances with impressionist painting, although it was painted some 30 years before the appearance of the aforementioned French artistic movement. Specifically, the slight deviation from strict figurative taste and the use of color as the main element in his paintings.
