Boccherini
Ridolfo Luigi Boccherini (Luca, 1743-Madrid, 1805), was an Italian composer and cellist who developed most of his musical career in Spain.
In addition to having modernized the string quartets, to which he added one more member, turning them into quintets, a form also later used by Mozart, he has some very interesting compositions to his credit, such as a quintet for strings known as "Night music from the streets of Madrid", referring to the hustle and bustle of that city at the time of Goya (a contemporary of his), and an also well-known minuet, in addition to many other works that include Christmas carols, symphonies and divertimentos.
In general, in the history of Music, Boccherini lives in it with Mozart and Beethoven, perhaps a little more hidden, and considered, compared to these last two figures mentioned, as a minor composer but, who is not a minor composer standing next to these two portents! Even so, his music is worthy of study and little gems can be found browsing among his compositions.
