Prolific actress of extraordinary beauty and naturalness, as well as a singer, who developed most of her cinematographic career during the military dictatorship of Francisco Franco, on Spanish soil. But not for this reason it was a hindrance to shine also in international co-productions, as several world-renowned star producers came to look specifically for her from the multitude of actresses available in the film firmament.
It is true that her ability to shoot on Spanish soil during the time of the Franco regime is causing certain problems nowadays as her star is not easily recognized by Spanish cinema today; so much so that in the list issued by the Spanish Film Academy of 2019 which includes the 100 best Spanish films of the twentieth century according to the criteria of the latter (in particular from 1930 to 2000), there is no film in which Carmen has worked on this list, correct me if I'm wrong.
But in the end Carmen knew how to fit the roles and fill the screen with her brashness and sensuality, so that in terms of seasonally adjusted political and temporal, Carmen Sevilla can be considered as the best actress that Spain has given to the world. His tiptoe through the current film Academy comes into conflict with the wide use of her star in Canal Sur (Andalusian regional television); when they don't know what to program they show a film in which she appears.
Among her remarkable works we can emphasize her leading role in the adaptation of Florián Rey of the Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving, and some collaborations with the American producer Samuel Bronston.
