Guillermo Sánchez Boix

Guillermo Sánchez Boix (Barcelona, 1917–1964), who signed his work as Boixcar, was a Spanish comic book artist, one of the leading figures of the era known as the Golden Age of Spanish Comics (mid-20th century).

During this period of splendor for Spanish comics, there were two main centers of industry development, both in the Levante region. One was Valencia, with its Valencian School; The other center was Barcelona, the natural hub of Spanish comics from that time onward, and in this hub, Boixcar was the most prominent artist.

Known above all for his Hazañas bélicas (War Deeds), published by the Barcelona-based publisher Toray, the artist created several other series that delighted the Spanish-speaking world of the time, such as El mundo futuro (The Future World) and Flecha negra (Black Arrow).

His early death left many stories untold, perhaps, but today we find solace in those he published in his day, which hold a place of renown in the history of comics and Spanish comics.
