Lovers of painting in general, and especially all of us who like the exotic and magical touch of Orientalism, are (we are) in luck: from November 2, 2024 to February 22, 2025, a very special exhibition is taking place in Doha (Qatar), dedicated to the French academic and Orientalist painter Gérôme (Jean-Léon).

It is a large sample of approximately 400 works of art related to the Orient painted in an excellent way by this artist, mainly during the second half of the 18th century. A prodigious work that will delight above all Orientalists, as we have already said, and among whom is included the director of this magazine who writes this text, as well as art lovers in general, as we have also commented.

Gérôme's work is characterized by being extremely detailed and realistic, which helps us transport ourselves to the place that is represented with all the force of the artist's painting. The exhibition features other more recent works that will be compared to those of Gérôme himself.

A unique opportunity without a doubt to be enchanted by the magic of the East, which, according to the editor, is sorely lacking in the West today.
