Thus, the film will focus even more on Roman gladiator shows and has been rated "R" (restricted audience) in the US for its high doses of violence.
Therefore, let's forget about that first part balanced among script, adrenaline and good music (remember that tremendous soundtrack signed by Hans Zimmer, which has been continued by composer Harry Gregson-Williams for this installment); it seems that adrenaline is what prevails in this second part. In it we will be able to see everything from exotic animals to naval battles in the circuses themselves. In short, a festival, an excess, a visual extravagance that will delight spectators.
The cast is also very successful: Connie Nielsen returns, and then Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington join the cast. As we have said, Ridley Scott returns as director, who at 86 years old seems to be in top cinematic form, and that is appreciated.
So, the audience will surely enjoy a series of Roman duels and exploits, but... Some of us will have to "deceive ourselves" to know that this film is a sequel to a movie that was a favorite for many and that had turned out very well; neither the script, nor the freshness, nor probably the music will be up to par, but what does it matter? The important thing is the spectacle, or not?
