The combination of a good script (Homer's Odyssey itself), a good director (Christopher Nolan), and excellent production, distribution, and promotion has paid off, making this adaptation a top choice for summer moviegoers in many parts of the world.
While there are some liberties taken with the original text in the film's script (as is often the case, nothing new under the sun), the fact remains that all those familiar faces (including Matt Damon as Odysseus, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Tom Holland, and others) have managed to capture the attention of the general public.
Thus, Christopher Nolan's particular "odyssey" is fulfilled and "hits the nail on the head" cinematically this summer.
