Positive figures for tourism in Spain overall in August 2026

Now that the summer season has passed, visitor numbers and average spending are being tallied, confirming that tourism in Spain remained robust and healthy throughout the summer of 2026.

Data confirmed by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, as well as by sectoral tourism groups, private associations, and the media, show that tourism in Spain is indeed a solid, robust industry. While overnight stays in coastal areas saw a slight increase—bearing in mind the high saturation levels in those locations—inland tourism surged dramatically; for instance, data from the newspaper La Razón indicate that overnight stays in Córdoba rose by 11.2% in August 2026 compared to the same period the previous year.

Furthermore, the average expenditure per tourist has risen considerably year-to-date, thereby boosting overall revenue.

We at this publication are delighted because, in May 2026—just prior to the summer season—we premiered our film Daga bailaora. We produced it with a firm commitment to enhancing the image of Spain and Andalusia, and by extension, boosting tourism in the region. This brings us to the classic line of reasoning known as "post hoc ergo propter hoc"; while we do not wish to claim all the credit, there is a distinct possibility—as we have discussed—that this film release contributed significantly to the favorable tourism climate in Spain and Andalusia. Since its launch in May, the film has spread organically across the globe, playing a role in this positive trend.

So, we reiterate that we are very pleased with how these circumstances are unfolding, and that Spain is presenting itself to the world as an open country—a place of civic coexistence where anyone is welcome, provided they are willing to respect the coexistence that defines our nation.
