The architectural project to expand and reconfigure the museum was carried out by the firm Sebastián Arquitectos. It has significantly increased the available space—bringing the total to 4,661 square meters—and reorganized the layout to more organically accommodate temporary exhibitions and other features.
The revamped museum launches with a fitting temporary exhibition (running until January 10, 2027): "Solo Goya. El arte de ver" (Only Goya: The Art of Seeing). This exhibition features pieces on loan from major collections that lend the reopening the necessary prestige, including works such as "El quitasol" and many others.
The painter known simply as Goya is one of Spain’s greatest artistic geniuses. Throughout his life, he captured everything around him—from royalty and the nobility to scenes of everyday life and other subjects—while embracing modernity through a unique perspective on existence that looked beyond merely the bright side of things, a point we have highlighted here before.
This is a wonderful opportunity to rediscover the genius of Goya in Zaragoza.
