About skyscrapers

Computer recreation of the future Tower C, yet to be built, in Shenzhen, China, by Zaha Hadid studio
Regarding this project, certain ideas about skyscrapers come to our minds. We see in the computer-generated images of the future tower that perhaps the most interesting thing about it is its union with the ground, where a very attractive space appears that represents the intersection of the two towers with the earth, and it is very well resolved. We wonder if everything else has the same interest (that is, the building as it rises towards the sky).
For a long time, human beings have tried to build skyscrapers, or tall buildings, as far as the technique has allowed. To make a brief review, we can mention the Tower of Babel, the pyramids of Egypt, the Gothic cathedrals and finally the skyscrapers that began to be built in Chicago at the end of the 19th century, then those in New York and then those that are being built in East.
But we don't want to leave the reader lost in rambling; Let's get to the heart of the matter: are skyscrapers good or bad? Since always, and we return to the previous point, the human being has wanted to go further and higher, and the skyscraper is a manifestation of this trend. But we are now in the 21st century, after having scattered the earth with a good number of them, and it is time to ask ourselves if they are necessary and / or efficient. Necessary because the internet already exists, it is not necessary for people to physically move to a common workplace that is quite condensed and in height, such as a skyscraper. And efficient because these constructions go against the times and bio-responsible efforts such as the fact that we must reduce the world population and live in more natural environments and less in swarms or human ant hills such as these buildings.
Therefore, without going into more detail, city planners, that is, the mix among politicians, property speculators and architects, should minimize the number of these on the face of the earth and limit to one or two examples per city, which could become the "singular vertical element" that each city should have, as this term has already been mentioned earlier in this publication.
This is the opinion of the editor and therefore of this magazine.
