A copy of the first Superman comic book sells at auction for over $9 million

The auction was organized by Heritage. This first issue was surprisingly well-preserved, as already commented above, likely because it had been stored undisturbed in an attic for over 50 years.
Superman is considered the first superhero as we know the comic book genre today. He first appeared in 1938, and only a couple of other characters who preceded him could be considered "superheroes" today, although it was Superman who achieved widespread success and became known to general audiences. His most direct predecessor is The Phantom, whose first appearance dates back to 1936, two years earlier.
Due to the importance of the character, and the good state of preservation of the piece in particular, the comic has exceeded 9 million dollars, becoming the most expensive booklet of these characteristics in history, surpassing another previous Superman comic, which sold for 6 million dollars.
